Chess Clubs

Chess board imageFor the second time this year, the Redmond Elementary PTSA and the Neighborhood Schoolhouse offer a variety of options for young chess players after school.

There are three chess clubs to choose from:

Beginning Chess Class:  A beginning chess class will be offered through the Neighborhood School House program, just like last year.  For more information on this class, please see the Neighborhood School House brochure

Advanced Beginning / Intermediate Chess Club:  This club will be professionally-coached and is intended for students who want to play in local chess tournaments or to take a faster-paced approach to learning the game.  No experience is necessary and tournament participation is not required.

Advanced Chess Club:  This club also will be professionally-coached.  It is intended for students who have prior tournament experience and a rating of at least 600.  (If you have played before, see http://whsca.org/ratings.html to find your rating.)

The Redmond Elementary PTSA is offering the advanced beginning/intermediate and advanced clubs.  Both clubs meet after school on Wednesdays and will run from the first week of October 2009 through the last week April 2010.  For more information or to sign up, please see the Chess Club flyer.
