Fundraising

Did you ever wonder why the Redmond Elementary PTSA seems to be constantly asking for your support for fundraising efforts? Or what these funds are used for?

In a nutshell: The PTSA supports a variety of worthwhile activities that play a vital role in creating a rich and stimulating learning environment at Redmond Elementary School. The more funds are raised, the bigger the benefit for all students during the ongoing school year.

So yes, we do encourage you to support the PTSA financially. Even the smallest contribution is appreciated! THANK YOU!

Ongoing Programs

Redmond Elementary PTSA

There are three ways you can directly support Redmond Elementary PTSA financially:

  • Join the PTSA: Membership fees are collected when you do so. In 2009 the fees are $12 (one adult) and $20 (two adults) family membership. Your membership fee not only supports our programs, but also helps the Washington State PTSA and the National PTA to speak on behalf of our children for a better educational environment. Increased membership means a stronger voice will be heard by our state legislature.

  • Donate directly to Redmond Elementary PTSA. Because Redmond Elementary PTSA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization according to federal tax laws, all donations are tax-deductible.

  • Corporate Matching: There are many Redmond Elementary families who are employed by corporations that match donations and sometimes volunteer hours. We have recently begun to encourage families to participate. Our goal is to communicate it more readily AND to provide support to families who aren't sure how to do it. If you aren't sure that your company matches donations, ask your employer.

Special Events

Hawk Rock 'n' Walk Hawk Rock 'n' Walk logo

This is the biggest fund raising event of the school year. It is also a great way for our school to showcase our school to the community. This is a walkathon that is open to students, their families and friends.
The program receives outside sponsors and donation collection by children. All students enter for free and receive a free T-shirt if they raise a minimum of $10 by the deadline. This fundraiser has large school involvement with a logo contest, kick-off assembly, and donation collections. After the walk, there are a myriad of after-race activities including food and crafts. The 2010 Hawk Rock 'n' Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2010. Click here for the Hawk Rock 'n' Walk 2010 page.

Pass the Hat

Pass the Hat

Pass the Hat is a direct donation fundraiser at the beginning of the school year. It is the easiest and most efficient way to support Redmond Elementary in that 100% of the money donated goes directly to the PTSA.

To fund everything the PTSA hopes to accomplish this year, we must raise $66,022. We are asking for a $70 per student or more contribution to help with this cost and the shortfall will be made up by our traditional fundraisers. Look at the 2009/2010 PTSA Budget to see how your money will be spent.

Redmond Elementary is 501(c)3 non-profit organization according to federal tax laws and so all donations are tax-deductible.

Also, contact you HR Department for more details about corporate matching gifts. The timeframe for this program is from September to October so if there is a giving campaign at your place of work in that period, please consider the Redmond Elementary PTSA as a place to donate.

Every dollar given to Pass the Hat will go directly to supporting our children and our school! Thank you for whatever your family manages to contribute.

Bake Sales

Cake

Goodies for a great cause! The PTSA holds 3-4 bake sales. Parents and staff provide the goodies for the event. Bake sales are traditionally linked to an evening school event, such as the Spring, Winter and Fall music programs and the Variety Show. Each bake sale has a specific fund assigned to it. Past bake sales have provided money for the purchase of microscopes, equipment for music instruction, library books or Emergency Preparedness.

Used Book FairBooks

In March, the Redmond Elementary PTSA sponsors a used book fair. We collect gently used books, CDs, Software, DVDs, Videos, and gently worn Redmond Elementary T-Shirts from students. The class who donates most books wins a prize. The books are sold to students, parents and community members at a very reasonable price (25¢ for children's books, and 50¢ for adult books).
